Overview

Founded in 2021 by entrepreneurs Bruno Cury, Daniel Ruhman, and Pedro Castilho, Cumbuca is a digital platform designed to facilitate the division and shared management of expenses. It is used by friends, couples, colleagues, service providers, and other groups with common expenses.

In the app, Cumbuca users can create groups for various purposes. For example, a group for household expenses with the family and another for a trip with friends. The app supports various payment methods, including real-time payments (Pix in Brazil) and cards.

In 2022, after a detailed study of technological options, Cumbuca chose the Pismo cloud-native platform for managing user accounts and processing payment cards. Since migrating its accounts to Pismo, the fintech company experienced a 600% increase in monthly transaction volume. The platform’s scalability allowed the workload to grow rapidly while maintaining performance and reliability.

In 2024, Cumbuca will rely on Pismo to tokenise its recently launched payment cards, enabling their use in digital wallets such as Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay.
