“We wanted to be sure to design an app that would be different from traditional banking apps. The inspiration behind it came from apps that we love, such as Spotify, Amazon, Uber, and Instagram,” says Rodrigo Cury, Associate Partner at BTG Pactual, the largest investment bank in Latin America, and Head of BTG+, a digital bank based on the Pismo platform.
Cury was one of the speakers at the <a href="/pt/”https://www.bankingforum.com.br/”/" target="”_blank”" rel="”nofollow”" noopener”>Banking Innovation Forum, which happened online last week. He said that BTG+ is aimed at high-income customers who have sophisticated needs regarding financial services. BTG+ was launched in January and is growing fast across all Brazilian states.
“Our app is rated 4.8 on the Apple’s App Store and 4.5 on the Google Play store. These high rates suggest that we are accomplishing our goals,” he says. “Creating the user interface was one of the coolest things we did. We worked with a specialised company from New York to design it. I said: ‘Forget it is a bank!’ so the designers could be more creative.”
“We equipped the app with a timeline inspired by social networks. It shows the user’s financial transactions and other events related to the account. There is a feature similar to Instagram’s stories that gives news and useful information to the user. We can even alert customers when their driving license is expiring, and they need to renew it.”
Cury also emphasised the importance of security for the mobile bank: “BTG Pactual has a success story of more than 38 years. It conveys a feeling of security and trustability. So we must be cautious about security issues. We have partners who brought to BTG+ the most robust security tools available in the market. Like other banks, we see many cyber-attack attempts. But we have been very successful in warding off such attempts.”
